Local students graduate from Fort Lewis College
In a ceremony on Saturday, April 30, 2016, over 500 Fort Lewis College graduates and their families packed Whalen Gymnasium for Spring Commencement. The speaker chosen to offer the Commencement Address was Colorado's Lieutenant Governor, Joseph Garcia.

Students work on Environmental Center Teams at Fort Lewis College
Founded in 1991, the Fort Lewis College Environmental Center (EC) is a campus organization committed to working for environmental sustainability and social justice both at Fort Lewis College and in the Durango community. As part of its student-driven mission, the EC works to connect students to opportunities to create real change. Each year, the EC selects student leaders through a competitive application process.

Local students trained as Common Ground facilitators
Common Ground is a network of facilitators trained in an anti-bias educational program that promotes cultural awareness and combats discrimination. They accomplish this through education and awareness and by connecting students, faculty and staff and community members in intercultural dialogue and introspective activities.

Students serve as resident assistants at Fort Lewis College
Each year, Fort Lewis College chooses a group of highly motivated students to serve as Resident Assistants. Resident Assistants are student staff members who live on a floor in a college residence hall to serve as primary resources for information and assistance. The objectives of Resident Assistants are to exhibit a concern for others and relate in a positive manner to the students. They are responsible for creating a living environment that is conducive to the academic mission of the College, maintaining the safety of the facility, and assisting the student in their college experiences.
